Our Beginning

The needs of the people of Honduras started stirring within us when we made mission trips to the third world country in the late 1990's. We visited El Progreso, a city that still suffers devastating effects from Hurricane Mitch in 1998.

There is much poverty, homelessness and with that, malnourished and needy children. One would think that with all the devastation there would be much despair in Honduras. Thankfully, that is not altogether true. Many people are filled with a joy and hope that surpasses their poverty.

It is in knowing these people and their hope that we made it our mission to do more - especially for the children born into the poverty and strife. Quite literally, traveling to and volunteering in Honduras changed our lives.  So, in 2004, several of us in North Central Texas started Friends of Los Niños with the mission of "changing lives, supporting needy children in Honduras."

Our Objectives

Our objectives are as follows:

• To support children in El Progreso
• To renovate and/or  build housing facilities
• To address and aid children's medical and nutritional needs
• To assist with child development and education
• To foster children's spiritual development

We can only meet these objectives with your support.
